World Open: A loss in round 1

Game 1 featured my first horrible blunder of the tournament – overlooking a knight fork on move 25.

I’m a little disappointed in the facilities here – the convention center and hotel look and feel kind of worn out. There don’t seem to be any outside shops or restaurants at all in the immediate area, so I’m glad I have my car. Otherwise I’d be stuck with hotel restaurants or the food court in the convention center.

I saw Blunderprone from my club playing his round 3 game. (He started yesterday on the five-day schedule). He lost his first two games, but it looked like he was winning his third.

I also ran into my instructor Dan Heisman and chatted with him briefly.

Replayable game
