New look for the blog; fixed IE formatting problems

Prompted by formatting problems with Internet Explorer, I’ve completely overhauled the look-and-feel of the blog. It seems to look good in both Firefox and IE now. Formatting problem in IE

I’ve just become aware that the layout of this blog is somewhat messed up when you view it using Internet Explorer. (I use Firefox.) I’m sorry about that; I’ll fix it as soon as I can.

xkcd on chess and Star Wars

At The MathWorks, where I work, the online comic strip xkcd has been very popular lately. It is a “webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language.” The latest strip is called “Chess Enlightment.” Warning: If you are any kind of computer or math geek and you value your time and productivity, don’t click on the link!
