OK, I figured out my initial problem using the ICC’s PGN viewer in this blog. What I needed to do was use my Wordpress text control plugin to turn off auto-text-formatting in this post.
Here’s the dueling queen blunders game I posted about earlier today. You can use your arrow keys to step through the moves, or you can click directly on a move in the right-hand pane.

This browser is not Java-enabled.
If you’re interested in how this works, you just copy-and-paste PGN text into this form, which then loads a Java chess board applet. Then you can grab the page source and copy it into your own web page. It seems to work pretty well, if you don’t mind the ICC advertising.

Luckely i’m not the only one out there making painfull mistakes
Good thing you got the viewer up
Are you also aware of the possibilities to annotate your game wihin this viewer? And make your comments show up in the dialog box underneath the viewer?
Edwin – I’ll give annotation a try with this viewer, thanks for the suggestion. I wonder if the viewer allows you to specify which move to show when the board first loads?
Not that i know of…
Steve,
That was a painful game. I must note that I had only 4 hours sleep that night and I had found out my wife lost her job that same day. Yeah…yeah… excuses excuses …. but wait until next time Steve!
The double attack happening. My mind said ” OK I have the Queen locked in on Steve’s King… come and get my rook … I dare ya!. Check?!?! What’s this? No problem … I can just move my King.” Letting go of the piece… “D’OH!”
