A bad way to win

I was happy for the win last night in my club game against a higher-rated player. But still the game left a sour taste in my mouth. I was playing pretty well for a while and had achieved a position with good possibilities. But then my brain shut off in the middle of following through a tactical line that I had miscalculated, and I hung my queen. My opponent didn’t notice, though; instead, he let me take his own queen.

I may come back to this game in another blog post about my work on my move selection thought process.

    D’oh! Out of curiosity, about how long did your opponent think before making his last move? Did he react too quickly to the check on move 20? Or was it just a case of chess blindness?

    I think he took a minute or two before playing 20…Kc7.
