Something to think about in the French Tarrasch
I had a lesson yesterday with my chess coach, Dan Heisman. We discussed some lines in the Tarrasch variation of the French defense. The Tarrasch variation is what I usually play as White.
One common line goes like this:
1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nd2 Nf6 4.e5 Nfd7 5.Bd3 c5 6.c3 Nc6 Diagram
Here I usually play 7.Ne2 so that the d2 knight can go to f3 to help protect the d4 pawn. [Dan said more players are trying the pawn sac 7.Ngf3 Qb6 8.0-0 Diagram
I'll have to play over some master games to get an idea for what the themes are in this line.]
